Cable Trays. Buyer Questions Answered
Covering specification, standards, finish, export documentation, lead times and procurement logistics for cable trays from India.
There is no official "No. 1." India's cable tray export is spread across Kolkata/Howrah, Gujarat and the south, and the rankings you find online are usually self-declared. What buyers actually check before shortlisting is direct-from-factory supply with no trading markup, an ISO 9001 certificate, and proof of IEC 61537 or IS 12352 testing. Vajra International is a Howrah manufacturer exporting FOB/CIF to 30+ countries on those terms.
Steel cable trays, ladders and trunking export under HS 7308.90 (structures and parts of structures, of iron or steel); some perforated and accessory items fall under 7326.90. Confirm the exact subheading with your customs broker before shipment. UAE buyers get a further benefit: HS 7308 clears at 0% duty under the India–UAE CEPA agreement, provided the Certificate of Origin is in order.
Cable trays fall under HSN 7308 and carry 18% GST inside India. None of that reaches an export invoice, though. We ship under an LUT (Letter of Undertaking), so no IGST is charged, or IGST is paid upfront and refunded afterward. Either way, an overseas buyer's FOB or CIF price is clean of Indian tax; whatever duty or VAT applies is set by your own country.
India exports cable trays and cable management to 50+ countries, with the Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar), Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia and the UK the largest destinations. Demand is driven by data centres, refineries, solar farms and metro rail. Shipment databases such as Volza and Zauba track live export volumes under HS code 7308.
Ladder tray suits heavy power cable: open rungs dissipate heat and allow long support spans. Perforated tray, with a slotted base, is the default for control and instrumentation cabling. Trunking, fully enclosed with a cover, protects against dust and impact in exposed or occupied areas. Most projects end up mixing all three, matched to what each run actually carries.
