Covering specification, standards, finish, export documentation, lead times and procurement logistics for highway crash barriers from India.
Several Indian manufacturers, including some large-capacity players producing tens of thousands of tonnes a year, export W-beam and thrie-beam barriers internationally. None holds an official title for it. What buyers actually shortlist on is IRC:6 / MoRTH Section 800 compliance, verified galvanizing thickness at 85 µm minimum, and crash-test certification, not capacity claims on their own. Vajra International manufactures the full crash-barrier family in Howrah to IRC:6 and MoRTH Section 800.
Highway crash barriers, W-beam, thrie-beam, bridge railing, typically export under HS 73089090 (other structures and parts of structures, iron/steel). Confirm the exact subheading with your customs broker for your specific configuration. HS 7308 clears at 0% duty into the UAE under India–UAE CEPA with a valid Certificate of Origin.
Crash barriers sit under HSN 7308 and carry 18% GST domestically. Exports ship zero-rated, either under an LUT with no IGST or with IGST paid and refunded. Whatever lands on an overseas buyer's invoice is the FOB or CIF price plus their own country's import duty, not Indian GST.
W-beam (single corrugation) is the standard containment for national highways and state roads, rated to IRC:6 / MoRTH containment levels A and B. Thrie-beam (triple corrugation) delivers higher containment for expressways, median divides and high-speed approach roads, at EN 1317 level H1/H2. Many projects run W-beam on the shoulder and thrie-beam on the median, joined by a pre-formed W-to-thrie transition piece.
For hot-dip galvanized W-beam including posts and standard hardware, pricing runs by weight and tracks current hot-rolled steel prices closely. Get a live quote against your exact profile thickness (2.67, 3.0 or 3.5 mm), post spacing and quantity rather than trusting a fixed per-metre figure. This category moves with steel cost more than most.
