Cable Trays for Bangladesh projects, made in India

What it takes to land cable trays on a Bangladesh site: the port they clear through, the standards a consultant will hold them to, and the paperwork that has to travel with them.

01Route and compliance

Getting cable trays into Bangladesh

Bangladesh is targeting 30 GW of solar by 2030 and imports most of the mounting structure it needs. Kolkata to Chittagong is a short haul, and that shows up directly in your landed cost rather than in a sales pitch. Freight is the easy part. BNBC compliance is what has to be evidenced document by document.

Port of entry

Chittagong Port (Chattogram)

Also cleared through Mongla Port, Payra Port.

Shipped FOB, CIF, CFR.

02The range

Cable Trays

Vajra International is an ISO 9001:2015-certified cable tray manufacturer and exporter in Kolkata, India, producing ladder, perforated and raceway cable trays to IEC 61537 and IS 12352. Trays are roll-formed in-house in MS, GI, stainless steel and aluminium: pre-galvanized for indoor and dry duty, hot-dip galvanized to a minimum average 85 µm per ASTM A123 for outdoor and coastal exposure, or powder coated where colour-coding is specified. Shipped direct on FOB/CIF terms with the matched accessory and support range, mill test certificates and full export documentation.

06Questions buyers ask

Cable Trays into Bangladesh — the questions that come up

Answered by the people who make the product, not a sales desk.

Ladder tray suits heavy power cable: open rungs dissipate heat and allow long support spans. Perforated tray, with a slotted base, is the default for control and instrumentation cabling. Trunking, fully enclosed with a cover, protects against dust and impact in exposed or occupied areas. Most projects end up mixing all three, matched to what each run actually carries.

For mild-steel, hot-dip galvanized tray FOB India: perforated 100 mm runs roughly USD 3 to 6 per metre, ladder 300 mm roughly USD 8 to 15, climbing to USD 15 to 28 at 600 mm width. Treat these as planning numbers, not a quote. Steel cost, gauge, zinc thickness and order size move the real figure, and volume orders settle toward the lower end of each range.

Hot-dip galvanized after fabrication (IS 4759 / ASTM A123, 65 to 85 microns) coats cut edges and welds, and that's what any outdoor, humid or coastal project needs. Pre-galvanized tray, at around 20 microns with bare cut edges, is cheaper but belongs indoors in dry conditions only. If a quote looks 15% lower than a competitor's, check whether you're comparing pre-galv against hot-dip. They aren't the same product.

IEC 61537 is the global cable-management standard. It sets the safe working load, deflection class and corrosion class. For US-spec projects, add NEMA VE 1; for Indian-standard purchases, add IS 12352. Galvanizing sits outside both and is specified separately, to ASTM A123 or IS 4759. Reference IEC 61537 in the BOQ and ask the supplier for the load-deflection type-test report.

Only with internal dividers (or compartmented trunking). IEC 60364 requires separation between low-voltage power and ELV signal/data cabling. We supply dividers in matched finish, height-stepped to suit the largest cable, so the installation passes audit cleanly.
