Cable Trays for Philippines projects, made in India

What it takes to land cable trays on a Philippines site: the port they clear through, the standards a consultant will hold them to, and the paperwork that has to travel with them.

01Route and compliance

Getting cable trays into Philippines

The Philippines buys more Indian cable tray than any other country in the world, 539 shipments by customs count. That lane is crowded. What decides an order here is galvanizing that holds its thickness and paperwork that clears PNS review without a second submission.

Trade picture

Philippines is the #1 global importer of cable trays from India. 539 shipments, dwarfing every other market (Seair customs data). The primary driver is rail infrastructure: SMC Mass Rail Transit 7 (the first privately funded rail project in Asia) requires cable trays for 36 km of elevated track from Caloocan to Parañaque. Identified Philippine buyers of Indian cable trays include Samsung Electronics Philippines (factory cable management), Hilti Philippines (industrial construction), MERALCO (Manila Electric Company for distribution infrastructure), and multiple DPWH-accredited EPC contractors. Products required: ladder cable trays to IEC 61386 and PNS equivalents, perforated trays for telecom zones, HDG finish for outdoor and coastal installations in high-humidity coastal environments. Minimum standard: ISO 9001:2015 manufacturer with MTC and COO. Container-load direct import from India to Manila or Subic Bay Freeport is the dominant procurement route, no intermediary trader needed.

Cable Trays

Vajra International is an ISO 9001:2015-certified cable tray manufacturer and exporter in Kolkata, India, producing ladder, perforated and raceway cable trays to IEC 61537 and IS 12352. Trays are roll-formed in-house in MS, GI, stainless steel and aluminium: pre-galvanized for indoor and dry duty, hot-dip galvanized to a minimum average 85 µm per ASTM A123 for outdoor and coastal exposure, or powder coated where colour-coding is specified. Shipped direct on FOB/CIF terms with the matched accessory and support range, mill test certificates and full export documentation.

06Questions buyers ask

Cable Trays into Philippines — the questions that come up

Answered by the people who make the product, not a sales desk.

IEC 61537 defines load classes by the safe working load a tray carries at a stated support span with deflection kept within limits, verified by type-testing rather than calculation alone. The class rises with sheet thickness and profile depth. Ask for the manufacturer's load-deflection test report at your support span rather than accepting a self-declared rating.

Cable ladder is a type of cable tray, not a separate product. 'Ladder' describes the open construction, two side rails joined by rungs with no solid bottom, used for heavy power and long-span routes. Perforated tray, the other common type, has a continuous punched-sheet base instead. Both are built to IEC 61537 and IS 12352, so a specification or enquiry naming either term is quoted against the same standard.

Cable tray, ladder or perforated, is open, so cables ventilate and dissipate heat. That's why it's used on main power and control routes. Trunking, sometimes called raceway, is a fully enclosed channel with a removable cover, protecting cables from dust, water spray and impact in exposed or occupied areas. The enclosure does de-rate cable ampacity, so size trunking up one width for heavy power.

Kolkata and Howrah in West Bengal have manufactured cable tray and galvanized steel for decades, and the cluster works because mill supply, galvanizing lines and Kolkata/Haldia port access all sit within a short drive of each other. Gujarat and southern India manufacture too. What matters for a buyer is going direct to a Howrah factory rather than through a trading layer, since that strips out the markup and shortens the paperwork chain.

Closed trunking shields cables from dust, falling debris, mechanical impact and casual contact, choose it for switch rooms, exposed building runs, walkway-adjacent routing and areas with public access. Open trays cost less and dissipate heat better, but they expose the cabling. Many EPCs mix the two: trunking in occupied zones, trays in plant rooms.
