Earthing for Qatar projects, made in India
What it takes to land earthing on a Qatar site: the port they clear through, the standards a consultant will hold them to, and the paperwork that has to travel with them.
Getting earthing into Qatar
Qatar procurement runs on QCS. If a submittal does not map to the Qatar Construction Specification clause by clause it comes back, and the second round costs you a month you had not planned for. Ras Laffan and Mesaieed are where most of this product ends up, and Qatar is already the third largest buyer of Indian steel structures.
Port of entry
Hamad Port, Doha
Also cleared through Mesaieed Port.
Shipped FOB, CIF, CFR.
Standards that apply here
- QCS (Qatar Construction Specification)
- IEC 61386
- BS 4678
- ISO 9001:2015

Trade picture
#6 global importer of cable trays from India (155 shipments). #3 for steel structures from India (7%, 55 shipments). Ras Laffan and Mesaieed industrial cities are major end users.
Earthing & Grounding Systems
Vajra International is an ISO 9001:2015-certified earthing and grounding system manufacturer and exporter in Kolkata, India, producing earthing plates, pipe electrodes, copper-bonded rods, and copper/GI strip and wire to IS 3043 and IEC 62561. Electrode systems are sized to the site's own soil resistivity rather than a fixed catalogue spec: IS 3043 sets a target below 5 Ω for LV distribution earthing, confirmed on-site by the fall-of-potential method. Supplied in GI, copper-bonded and pure-copper construction with backfill compound and accessories, shipped direct on FOB/CIF terms with material test certificates.
Qatar cities we ship earthing to
Each of these covers local procurement context — the zones, the projects and the buyers in that city specifically.

Earthing into Qatar — the questions that come up
Answered by the people who make the product, not a sales desk.
Yes. Manufacturers worth shortlisting build to IS 3043 and IEC 62561 together, and IEC 62561 in particular is the internationally recognised standard for earthing and LPS components across the Gulf, Africa, Southeast Asia and the UK. Put IEC 62561 in the enquiry for any export project so the copper-coating and mechanical test reports come back in the format your consultant expects to see.
Power-system (equipment) earthing carries fault current from electrical faults and is sized to the switchgear's fault level. Lightning-protection earthing carries very high, very short-duration surge current from a strike and needs its own low-impedance path, ideally a dedicated ring or rods bonded to, but distinct from, the main power earth. IEC 62305 governs the LPS-side design; both systems still need equipotential bonding together at one point.
Kolkata/Howrah has built up real depth in copper-bonding and GI earthing manufacture, with electroplating lines and Kolkata/Haldia port access close together. Going direct to a Howrah factory cuts out the trading-house layer that tends to creep in when earthing material gets bundled through a general hardware exporter instead of a specialist.
A conventional maintained pit, rod plus watering pipe and funnel, costs less and is standard for most industrial and substation work, but it needs periodic watering in dry seasons to hold resistance down. A chemical or maintenance-free pit costs more upfront and holds resistance stable without watering at all. It earns that premium at remote sites, telecom towers, or anywhere site visits are infrequent.
A pre-fitted brass terminal at the pipe head accepts a 25×3 mm or 50×6 mm GI flat strip (or 70 sq mm tinned copper conductor), secured with cup-square bolts and brass washers. The connection sits inside the inspection chamber, which keeps it accessible for annual resistance checks. We supply the brass terminal fitted and tested to the pipe as part of the electrode, the installer does not need to source it separately.
