Cable lugs and glands fall under HSN 8536/7419 and attract 18% GST domestically. Exports are zero-rated under an LUT (no IGST) or shipped with IGST paid and refunded. An overseas buyer pays only their own country's import duty on the FOB/CIF price.
Crimp lugs are the modern standard: faster to install with the correct crimping tool, consistent electrical contact, and no risk of solder-joint fatigue from vibration or thermal cycling. A mismatched bimetallic connection creates a galvanic corrosion risk at the joint over time. Where copper cable must terminate onto an aluminium busbar or vice versa, use a bimetallic (copper-aluminium) transition lug designed specifically for that junction, not a standard single-material lug.
