Steel Supports for United Kingdom projects, made in India
What it takes to land steel supports on a United Kingdom site: the port they clear through, the standards a consultant will hold them to, and the paperwork that has to travel with them.
Getting steel supports into United Kingdom
The UK charges no import duty on cable tray or earthing rod from India. That takes price off the table. What is left is whether the rod genuinely meets BS 7430 and whether anyone independent has verified it, and we will take third-party inspection at our own works to settle exactly that.
Port of entry
Port of Tilbury, London
Also cleared through Port of Bristol, Port of Liverpool, Port of Grangemouth, Scotland.

Trade picture
UK is the #3 global importer of earthing rods from India (405 shipments) and a major buyer of CNC machined components, precision sheet metal, and deep-draw parts for the UK automotive and aerospace supply chain. Earthing system demand is driven by: grid connection earthing for UK DNO (Distribution Network Operator) infrastructure projects; rail earthing (Network Rail CP7 investment programme); and commercial construction earthing to BS 7430. The UK imposes ZERO import duty on cable trays (HS 7308.90) and earthing rods (HS 7326.90) under the UK Global Tariff MFN schedule, no FTA required. Compliance requirement: cable management products must meet BS 4678 or BS EN 50085. Earthing rods for DNO and rail projects must comply with BS 7430 and BS EN 62305-3. MTC documentation standard required by UK contractors is EN 10204 Type 3.1 (or Type 3.2 for Network Rail approved products). The UK–India Trade and Goods Agreement (in negotiation, provisional application anticipated) is expected to further improve tariff competitiveness for precision engineering components from India to UK buyers.

Steel Supports into United Kingdom — the questions that come up
Answered by the people who make the product, not a sales desk.
Hot-dip galvanizing (IS 4759 / ASTM A123) is the standard for outdoor and long-service steel supports, protecting every surface including welds and cut edges for decades. Epoxy or PU painting gets used where a specific colour code is required, safety colour schemes for instance, or for indoor structures where HDG's cost premium isn't justified. For outdoor plant structures, HDG remains the default recommendation.
Mill Test Certificate for the structural steel (typically IS 2062 grade), welding procedure qualification records (WPS/PQR) where required, hot-dip galvanizing certificate stating zinc thickness, and a Certificate of Origin for duty relief. Third-party inspection is arranged where the project standard requires it.
There's no fixed minimum. Steel supports are ordered against a specific project's structural bill of quantities, often consolidated with cable tray or gratings into one shipment. Tell us your total tonnage and destination port and we'll confirm the most economical shipment plan.
Standard cantilever and pipe-rack designs typically ship in 5 to 7 weeks from drawing approval, depending on total tonnage, welding complexity and current factory load. Drawing finalization and load confirmation is usually what sets the schedule, so get structural drawings approved early to avoid delaying production.
Our welders are qualified to ASME IX, AWS D1.1 and EN ISO 9606 for the relevant material and joint thicknesses. The WPS (welding procedure specification) is shared as part of the QA dossier on every export order.
