Sheet Metal for United Kingdom projects, made in India
What it takes to land sheet metal on a United Kingdom site: the port they clear through, the standards a consultant will hold them to, and the paperwork that has to travel with them.
Getting sheet metal into United Kingdom
The UK charges no import duty on cable tray or earthing rod from India. That takes price off the table. What is left is whether the rod genuinely meets BS 7430 and whether anyone independent has verified it, and we will take third-party inspection at our own works to settle exactly that.
Port of entry
Port of Tilbury, London
Also cleared through Port of Bristol, Port of Liverpool, Port of Grangemouth, Scotland.
Shipped FOB, CIF, CFR.

Trade picture
UK is the #3 global importer of earthing rods from India (405 shipments) and a major buyer of CNC machined components, precision sheet metal, and deep-draw parts for the UK automotive and aerospace supply chain. Earthing system demand is driven by: grid connection earthing for UK DNO (Distribution Network Operator) infrastructure projects; rail earthing (Network Rail CP7 investment programme); and commercial construction earthing to BS 7430. The UK imposes ZERO import duty on cable trays (HS 7308.90) and earthing rods (HS 7326.90) under the UK Global Tariff MFN schedule, no FTA required. Compliance requirement: cable management products must meet BS 4678 or BS EN 50085. Earthing rods for DNO and rail projects must comply with BS 7430 and BS EN 62305-3. MTC documentation standard required by UK contractors is EN 10204 Type 3.1 (or Type 3.2 for Network Rail approved products). The UK–India Trade and Goods Agreement (in negotiation, provisional application anticipated) is expected to further improve tariff competitiveness for precision engineering components from India to UK buyers.
CNC Sheet Metal Components
Precision sheet-metal fabrication, CNC laser and turret-punch cutting, press-brake bending, and deep-drawing, for enclosures, brackets, panels and drawn components, finished by powder coat, plating or galvanizing.

Sheet Metal into United Kingdom — the questions that come up
Answered by the people who make the product, not a sales desk.
Springback, the material's tendency to relax slightly after bending, is compensated by adjusting the press-brake bend angle dynamically based on the material grade and thickness, so the finished part hits the drawing's specified angle rather than the tool's nominal angle. This is a process-control detail that separates experienced fabricators from ones producing inconsistent bend angles.
Ask for their press-brake tonnage and bed length, laser/punch cutting specifications, and material thickness limits. Ask for a reference part of comparable complexity. Ask whether welding and finishing, powder coat, plating, are in-house; a shop outsourcing key steps adds lead time and quality-control risk to your order.
Yes. Indian sheet metal shops commonly work to ISO 2768 tolerance classes and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems, producing enclosures, brackets and drawn components to the same standard expected by international OEMs. Confirm any project-specific quality requirement beyond general ISO tolerances at the enquiry stage.
Powder coating (durable, wide colour range, good for outdoor/industrial use), plating (corrosion protection or conductivity), galvanizing (for structural-grade outdoor parts) and brushed stainless finish are the common options. Specify your environment and any colour or branding requirement alongside the drawing.
Fibre laser is the modern default, faster on thin-to-medium sheet (under 12 mm), lower running cost, and better cut quality on stainless and aluminium. CO₂ still has niche advantages on thick mild steel above 20 mm. Our cutting capacity is predominantly fibre.
