Buying deep-drawn components — answered
Practical answers for procurement, engineering and EPC teams — covering specification, standards, finish, lead time and export logistics.
Deep drawing makes shells without seams — cylinders, cones, boxes — in a single tool. It works best for medium-to-high volume (5,000+ per year) where you need walls without seams and uniform thickness. For flat-and-bent parts, stamping is simpler. Spinning is for low-volume large parts. Tell us the volume and shape, and we'll recommend the best process.
Single-pass draw ratio of about 1.7 (height/diameter) in CRCA, 1.5 in stainless, 1.9 in aluminium. Deeper shells need multi-stage drawing with intermediate annealing. We design the tooling to minimise stages — usually 2-stage for typical industrial shells.
Die design is in-house; die manufacture is partnered with specialist tool rooms in our cluster. We hold the die at our facility, retain copyright on the design, and the die belongs to the customer's part — protected from competing use.
Deep-draw quality CRCA (IS 513 DC04, DC06) is the workhorse. Stainless 304 deep-draws well; 316 needs more force and is more expensive. Aluminium 1100 and 3003 draw beautifully. Brass deep-draws but is rare in modern applications.
Press-load monitoring, die-wear sampling every 500 pieces, dimensional check on every 1,000 pieces, and tool re-lapping at scheduled intervals. Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts are shared with the customer on production runs.

Manufacturing & Surface Treatment
All products are manufactured at Vajra's Howrah facility under ISO 9001:2015 quality management. In-house roll-forming, welding, galvanizing and testing — without sub-contractor dependency — ensures consistent dimensional accuracy and surface quality across export orders.
Precision Roll-Forming
CNC roll-forming lines capable of ±0.1 mm dimensional tolerance on MS, GI, SS, and aluminium sections.
Hot-Dip Galvanizing
In-house HDG plant conforming to ASTM A123 / IS 2629. Average coating: 85–140 µm. Pre-treatment: alkaline degreasing → pickling → fluxing.
Welding & Fabrication
MIG, TIG, SAW welding. Coded welders under ASME IX / IS 2825 qualification. Weld inspection by UT / DPT available.
Surface Treatment
Hot-dip galvanizing · Pre-galvanized GI · Powder coating (Tribo gun, 60–80 µm DFT) · Mill finish · Chromate passivation.
