Buying laser-cut & formed parts — answered
Practical answers for procurement, engineering and EPC teams — covering specification, standards, finish, lead time and export logistics.
Fibre laser is the modern default — faster on thin-to-medium sheet (under 12 mm), lower running cost, and better cut quality on stainless and aluminium. CO₂ still has niche advantages on thick mild steel above 20 mm. Our cutting capacity is predominantly fibre.
0.5 mm to 12 mm in stainless, mild steel, GI and aluminium. Thicker plate (up to 30 mm) is cut by plasma where the cut quality is acceptable. The laser tolerance is ±0.05 mm on cut width and ±0.1 mm on overall part.
Yes — nesting software optimises sheet yield to 88–92 % typically. For OEMs with quarterly orders, accumulated yield gain is significant. We quote on net weight of finished parts with sheet yield assumed, and the scrap is sold for the buyer's account when contracted that way.
Bend angle ±0.5°, bend dimensions ±0.5 mm on parts up to 1 m, ±1.0 mm on parts to 3 m. Tighter tolerances need fixture investment — we discuss before quoting. Material spring-back is compensated by our CAM library for common alloys.
Yes — IP54, IP55 and IP66 sheet-metal enclosures are routine, with TIG-welded seams, formed flanges, neoprene or silicone gaskets, and powder-coat finish. We test sample enclosures with water-spray per IEC 60529 and share the report.

Manufacturing & Surface Treatment
All products are manufactured at Vajra's Howrah facility under ISO 9001:2015 quality management. In-house roll-forming, welding, galvanizing and testing — without sub-contractor dependency — ensures consistent dimensional accuracy and surface quality across export orders.
Precision Roll-Forming
CNC roll-forming lines capable of ±0.1 mm dimensional tolerance on MS, GI, SS, and aluminium sections.
Hot-Dip Galvanizing
In-house HDG plant conforming to ASTM A123 / IS 2629. Average coating: 85–140 µm. Pre-treatment: alkaline degreasing → pickling → fluxing.
Welding & Fabrication
MIG, TIG, SAW welding. Coded welders under ASME IX / IS 2825 qualification. Weld inspection by UT / DPT available.
Surface Treatment
Hot-dip galvanizing · Pre-galvanized GI · Powder coating (Tribo gun, 60–80 µm DFT) · Mill finish · Chromate passivation.
