Solar Structures for Saudi Arabia projects, made in India

What it takes to land solar structures on a Saudi Arabia site: the port they clear through, the standards a consultant will hold them to, and the paperwork that has to travel with them.

01Route and compliance

Getting solar structures into Saudi Arabia

Saudi buyers seldom reject an Indian manufacturer on price. They reject on approval: SASO conformity, vendor registration, an inspection somebody independent has signed. Saudi Arabia already takes 16% of every earthing rod India exports, and we will walk SGS or Bureau Veritas through our works before the container is sealed.

Port of entry

King Abdulaziz Port, Jeddah

Also cleared through King Fahd Industrial Port, Dammam, Jubail Commercial Port.

Shipped FOB, CIF, CFR.

Trade picture

Saudi Arabia is the #2 global importer of earthing rods from India (407 shipments, 16% global share) and a top-5 market for cable trays, structural steel and lightning protection from India. The procurement drivers are clear: Saudi Electricity Company (SEC/Saudi Aramco) grid expansion is adding 20 GW of renewable generation capacity by 2030, each requiring cable management, earthing systems and steel supports at scale. NEOM (THE LINE, OXAGON, SINDALAH) is the largest construction project in the world, an estimated USD 500 billion programme requiring cable trays, gratings, structural steel and earthing systems across multiple parallel worksites. The Red Sea Project (35 luxury islands) and Diriyah Gate Development Authority are additional mega-project procurement centres. EPC contractors serving ARAMCO must comply with Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards (SAES) for cable management and SAES-Q-001 for earthing. SEC grid projects follow SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization) specifications. Indian origin products require a Certificate of Origin from an EEPC India-authorised chamber and must meet SASO requirements to pass Saudi Customs clearance.

06Questions buyers ask

Solar Structures into Saudi Arabia — the questions that come up

Answered by the people who make the product, not a sales desk.

IS 875 Part 3 is the Indian standard for wind loads on structures and the basis for most India-origin solar structure design. Export projects should also confirm the destination country's standard: ASCE 7 for the US, EN 1991-1-4 for Europe, AS/NZS 1170.2 for Australia. Wind zone and terrain category vary significantly by site, so this isn't a detail worth skipping.

Site location and basic wind speed (or wind zone per your local standard), snow load if applicable, module dimensions and weight, array configuration (modules per row or table), pile or foundation type, tilt angle, ground clearance and project MWp. Without these, any quote is indicative only and will likely change once the structure is actually engineered.

Commercial invoice and packing list with correct HS codes, Mill Test Certificates for structural steel, hot-dip galvanizing certificates stating zinc thickness, a structural calculation report to the site-specific design code, and a Certificate of Origin for duty relief under applicable trade agreements.

Solar structure orders get sized to project MWp rather than a fixed piece-count minimum, and a 1 MWp order is a realistic entry point for export container economics. Tell us your project capacity and site wind data and we'll confirm the most efficient shipment plan.

Tin-sheet roofs use L-foot brackets with EPDM rubber gaskets and self-tapping screws, the gasket compresses against the corrugation peak and seals the screw penetration. For severe-weather sites we add a butyl tape under the bracket. The installation should follow the roof OEM's penetration spec.
