Steel Supports for Saudi Arabia projects, made in India

What it takes to land steel supports on a Saudi Arabia site: the port they clear through, the standards a consultant will hold them to, and the paperwork that has to travel with them.

01Route and compliance

Getting steel supports into Saudi Arabia

Saudi buyers seldom reject an Indian manufacturer on price. They reject on approval: SASO conformity, vendor registration, an inspection somebody independent has signed. Saudi Arabia already takes 16% of every earthing rod India exports, and we will walk SGS or Bureau Veritas through our works before the container is sealed.

Port of entry

King Abdulaziz Port, Jeddah

Also cleared through King Fahd Industrial Port, Dammam, Jubail Commercial Port.

Shipped FOB, CIF, CFR.

Trade picture

Saudi Arabia is the #2 global importer of earthing rods from India (407 shipments, 16% global share) and a top-5 market for cable trays, structural steel and lightning protection from India. The procurement drivers are clear: Saudi Electricity Company (SEC/Saudi Aramco) grid expansion is adding 20 GW of renewable generation capacity by 2030, each requiring cable management, earthing systems and steel supports at scale. NEOM (THE LINE, OXAGON, SINDALAH) is the largest construction project in the world, an estimated USD 500 billion programme requiring cable trays, gratings, structural steel and earthing systems across multiple parallel worksites. The Red Sea Project (35 luxury islands) and Diriyah Gate Development Authority are additional mega-project procurement centres. EPC contractors serving ARAMCO must comply with Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards (SAES) for cable management and SAES-Q-001 for earthing. SEC grid projects follow SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization) specifications. Indian origin products require a Certificate of Origin from an EEPC India-authorised chamber and must meet SASO requirements to pass Saudi Customs clearance.

06Questions buyers ask

Steel Supports into Saudi Arabia — the questions that come up

Answered by the people who make the product, not a sales desk.

IS 875 (wind loads) and IS 802 principles (for lattice-type structures) inform the loading basis, combined with IS 2062 material properties and IS 800 (general construction in steel) for member design and connection detailing. Export projects should also confirm whether the destination country's own structural code needs to be referenced instead.

Ask for the specific micron thickness, typically 65 to 85 microns per ASTM A123 / IS 4759, rather than accepting "hot-dip galvanized" as a description on its own. Thickness varies with steel section and immersion time, and a thin coating on heavy structural sections is a corner some suppliers cut. Request the zinc-thickness test certificate as proof.

Yes. Seismic design considerations, per IS 1893 or the destination country's seismic code, affect connection detailing and bracing requirements, particularly for taller or heavier multi-tier structures. Share your project's seismic zone classification alongside the load schedule so the design accounts for it from the start rather than needing rework later.

Fabrication tolerance is generally governed by IS 7215 or the equivalent structural fabrication tolerance standard referenced in your project specification, covering member straightness, connection hole alignment and overall dimensional accuracy. Confirm the applicable tolerance standard with your structural engineer if it's not already stated on the drawing.

300, 450, 600, 750, 900 mm are off-the-shelf arm lengths. Above 1.0 m the cantilever moment grows quickly, we add a bracing strut to the post or fabricate a custom welded arm with a heavier section. Share the load and length and we'll size the assembly.
