Earthing for Philippines projects, made in India

What it takes to land earthing on a Philippines site: the port they clear through, the standards a consultant will hold them to, and the paperwork that has to travel with them.

01Route and compliance

Getting earthing into Philippines

The Philippines buys more Indian cable tray than any other country in the world, 539 shipments by customs count. That lane is crowded. What decides an order here is galvanizing that holds its thickness and paperwork that clears PNS review without a second submission.

Port of entry

Port of Manila

Also cleared through Port of Cebu, Subic Bay Freeport.

Shipped FOB, CIF, CFR.

Standards that apply here

  • IEC 61386
  • PNS (Philippine National Standards)
  • ISO 9001:2015

Trade picture

Philippines is the #1 global importer of cable trays from India. 539 shipments, dwarfing every other market (Seair customs data). The primary driver is rail infrastructure: SMC Mass Rail Transit 7 (the first privately funded rail project in Asia) requires cable trays for 36 km of elevated track from Caloocan to Parañaque. Identified Philippine buyers of Indian cable trays include Samsung Electronics Philippines (factory cable management), Hilti Philippines (industrial construction), MERALCO (Manila Electric Company for distribution infrastructure), and multiple DPWH-accredited EPC contractors. Products required: ladder cable trays to IEC 61386 and PNS equivalents, perforated trays for telecom zones, HDG finish for outdoor and coastal installations in high-humidity coastal environments. Minimum standard: ISO 9001:2015 manufacturer with MTC and COO. Container-load direct import from India to Manila or Subic Bay Freeport is the dominant procurement route, no intermediary trader needed.

Earthing & Grounding Systems

Vajra International is an ISO 9001:2015-certified earthing and grounding system manufacturer and exporter in Kolkata, India, producing earthing plates, pipe electrodes, copper-bonded rods, and copper/GI strip and wire to IS 3043 and IEC 62561. Electrode systems are sized to the site's own soil resistivity rather than a fixed catalogue spec: IS 3043 sets a target below 5 Ω for LV distribution earthing, confirmed on-site by the fall-of-potential method. Supplied in GI, copper-bonded and pure-copper construction with backfill compound and accessories, shipped direct on FOB/CIF terms with material test certificates.

06Questions buyers ask

Earthing into Philippines — the questions that come up

Answered by the people who make the product, not a sales desk.

Copper-bonded earth rods typically export under HS 74091100 (copper bars, rods, profiles) or 74081900 (copper wire); GI earthing pipes and plates fall under 73269099 (other articles of iron or steel). Get the exact subheading confirmed by your customs broker before shipping. For buyers in the UAE, these codes clear duty-free under India–UAE CEPA once the Certificate of Origin is in hand.

Earthing rods, plates, pipes and strip sit under HSN 7326 or 7409/7408 and carry 18% GST within India. That doesn't touch an export order. Shipments go out under an LUT with no IGST charged, or with IGST paid and then refunded to us. What lands on your invoice is the FOB or CIF price plus whatever import duty your own country applies.

Copper-bonded rod, a steel core with roughly 250 µm of electrodeposited copper, is the international default. It gives steel's tensile strength and copper's conductivity for a fraction of solid copper's price. GI pipe electrodes suit high-resistivity soil and IS 3043 Type-A compliance on tighter budgets. Solid copper is reserved for aggressive acidic, high-chloride or high-sulphate soils, where even a thick copper-bonded coating risks galvanic failure at the steel-copper interface.

IS 3043 is the Indian earthing code. It sets resistance targets (1 ohm for generating stations, 2 ohms for major substations, 10 ohms for domestic) and basic electrode rules. IEC 62561 is the international standard for earthing and lightning-protection components, and it specifies test methods for corrosion, mechanical strength and the copper-bonding thickness itself. For export projects, ask for compliance with both; they complement each other rather than compete.

Yes, we supply strip cut to drawing length with bolt holes drilled, bends pre-formed to the layout drawing, and bar-coded project tags attached for site sorting. This is standard on EPC contracts in Saudi Arabia, UAE and EU sites where on-site cutting and drilling is not permitted by the contractor's HSE rules or where labour cost makes prefabrication clearly worthwhile. Drawings can be received in DWG, DXF or PDF. We turn around first-batch dispatch in 2–3 weeks from drawing approval.
