Tray Accessories for Kenya projects, made in India

What it takes to land tray accessories on a Kenya site: the port they clear through, the standards a consultant will hold them to, and the paperwork that has to travel with them.

01Route and compliance

Getting tray accessories into Kenya

Kenya buys more Indian brass cable gland than any other country, close to two fifths of the total. The step that catches new importers is KEBS, which wants a certificate of conformity issued before the goods ship rather than after they reach Mombasa. Ask about that early.

06Questions buyers ask

Tray Accessories into Kenya — the questions that come up

Answered by the people who make the product, not a sales desk.

Cantilever-arm supports suit wall-mounted horizontal runs with reasonable spacing between fixing points, common in plant and industrial buildings. Bracket and hanger supports suit runs off an overhead structure, ceiling or pipe rack, or shorter-span applications. The choice depends on the available fixing structure at your site, not the tray type, so confirm what's actually there to fix into before selecting.

A coupler, or splice, plate joins two tray sections both mechanically and electrically, maintaining continuity along the run, which matters most if the tray also serves as an equipment grounding conductor path. Internal coupler plates sit inside the tray section; external plates bolt across the outside. Specify the type matching your tray manufacturer's standard joint detail for a proper fit.

Ideally galvanized in the same batch or to the identical specification as the parent tray, so zinc thickness and coverage match exactly. A fitting galvanized to a lower spec than its tray corrodes faster and becomes the weak point in an otherwise well-specified run. Ask for a single galvanizing certificate covering both tray and accessories where possible.

Send the parent tray's exact profile drawing, gauge and finish specification. A genuine manufacturer can confirm a matching fitting from their own tooling, or quote custom tooling for an exact match. A trader will often supply a close-but-not-identical fitting and hope no one notices on site.

Yes, hanger-rod kits with M10 threaded rod, channel beam, ceiling fixings, and tray clamps are off-the-shelf. They suit office, retail and hospital interior fit-outs where wall mounting is impractical. We supply them HDG or epoxy-painted to match the tray.
