W-Beam Crash Barrier
Single and double-faced W-beam guard rail, hot-dip galvanized for highway containment.

What it is
Roll-formed W-section profile in 3.0 / 3.5 mm steel, supplied with matched C-section posts, spacer blocks, terminal end pieces and bolting hardware. Designed to IRC:6 / MoRTH Section 800 for containment levels A and B on national highways and state roads.

Buying w-beam crash barrier — answered
Practical answers for procurement, engineering and EPC teams — covering specification, standards, finish, lead time and export logistics.
A W-beam barrier with 3.0 mm rail and a C-section post at 2 m spacing typically delivers IRC Level A (single-faced) or Level B (double-faced) containment — sufficient for cars, vans and small commercial vehicles at 80–100 km/h. Higher-containment runs for buses and trucks move to thrie-beam or concrete profile barriers.
The 4318 mm (14 ft) length comes from the historical AASHTO standard and is preserved by IRC:6 and MoRTH so rail ends overlap consistently across suppliers. Splice bolts pass through pre-formed slots at fixed positions — buying off-spec lengths risks bolt-hole misalignment at the joint.
MoRTH Section 800 and IRC:6 require hot-dip galvanizing to IS 4759 with a minimum average coating mass of 550 g/m² (about 75–85 µm). Many NHAI contracts now write 610 g/m² (85 µm minimum) to extend service life past the 15-year design horizon. Each batch should ship with a galvanizing thickness report.
Yes — a duplex finish (HDG base + powder-coat top) is used in airport perimeters, scenic highways and median runs where colour visibility or anti-glare matters. The HDG layer remains the corrosion protection; powder coat is cosmetic and adds 7–10 years of visual life.
Yes — buried-in-back-slope terminals (BCT), flared end terminations, and approved fishtail ends are part of the package. End treatments are project-specific and determine the run's NHAI/MoRTH approval; we configure them from your highway alignment drawing.
Manufacturing & Surface Treatment
All products are manufactured at Vajra's Howrah facility under ISO 9001:2015 quality management. In-house roll-forming, welding, galvanizing and testing — without sub-contractor dependency — ensures consistent dimensional accuracy and surface quality across export orders.
Precision Roll-Forming
CNC roll-forming lines capable of ±0.1 mm dimensional tolerance on MS, GI, SS, and aluminium sections.
Hot-Dip Galvanizing
In-house HDG plant conforming to ASTM A123 / IS 2629. Average coating: 85–140 µm. Pre-treatment: alkaline degreasing → pickling → fluxing.
Welding & Fabrication
MIG, TIG, SAW welding. Coded welders under ASME IX / IS 2825 qualification. Weld inspection by UT / DPT available.
Surface Treatment
Hot-dip galvanizing · Pre-galvanized GI · Powder coating (Tribo gun, 60–80 µm DFT) · Mill finish · Chromate passivation.
