250 microns is the standard minimum per IEC 62561-2 (or 254 microns under UL 467) for neutral, low-chloride soil. In acidic soil (pH below 6), high-chloride coastal ground, or sulphate-rich conditions, step up to 450 microns or move to solid copper. Thin coatings fail at imperfections faster than most buyers expect once the soil turns aggressive. Always ask for the DFT (dry film thickness) test report; a verbal assurance isn't proof.

Commercial invoice, packing list, a Mill Test Certificate for the steel core, a copper-coating thickness (DFT) report to IEC 62561-2 or IEEE 837, and a Certificate of Origin for duty relief. Where earthing ties into a lightning-protection system, IEC 62305 compliance documentation is added if the buyer asks for it.

There's no set minimum on the international side. Earthing material is usually bundled with cable tray, busbar or gratings inside one container, since that spreads freight cost across the whole order. Tell us your destination port and Incoterm and we'll work out the most economical shipment size.

Bangalore leads for volume, the data centre buildout at KIADB Electronic City and Whitefield (CtrlS, Yotta, GPX, NxtGen) runs pipe electrode arrays in basalt rock where plates are impractical. Pune follows, driven by auto and EV plant expansions (Tata Motors, BYD, Stellantis factories at Chakan and Talegaon) where the compact plant layout makes pipe electrodes better than plate pits. Ahmedabad and Vadodara chemical plants specify pipe electrodes for high-resistivity black-cotton soil where greater depth is the only way to hit the 1 Ω target. Chennai port zone projects use pipe electrodes in sandy low-resistivity coastal soil, depth here is mostly for long-term stability rather than resistance reduction.
