Tinned copper resists oxidation at the contact surface and is the safer default for outdoor, humid or long-service installations where the joint won't be disturbed often. Gland size must match the cable's actual outer diameter, and armour diameter for double-compression glands, within the manufacturer's specified clamping range. Too large a gland won't grip properly; too small won't fit. Share your cable's datasheet OD, and armour OD if applicable, rather than ordering by cable cross-sectional area alone, since insulation and armour thickness vary between cable manufacturers.
Ask for material composition certificates for the copper or brass used, and find out whether tinning or plating happens in-house or gets outsourced. Ask for the ISO 9001 certificate and IS 8309 / IS 12943 compliance documentation as samples. A manufacturer controls plating quality directly; a trader's plating consistency depends on whichever subcontractor they used that particular batch.
Copper lugs handle higher current density, last longer in panels, and accept tinning for corrosion resistance. Aluminium lugs are lighter, cheaper, and necessary when the cable conductor is itself aluminium, never mix copper lug with aluminium conductor (or vice versa) without a bimetallic adapter.
