Buying build-to-print fabrication — answered
Practical answers for procurement, engineering and EPC teams — covering specification, standards, finish, lead time and export logistics.
The customer's drawing defines the part; we handle material procurement, cutting, forming, welding, machining, finishing and inspection. The customer doesn't manage the supply chain or the process — only the spec and the schedule. Most OEM exports and EPC sub-assemblies are bought this way.
MS, SS, aluminium, copper and structural steel for the material side; laser/plasma/oxy cutting, press-brake forming, CNC machining, MIG/TIG/SAW welding, HDG/powder/painting, deep-drawing — all in-house or via dedicated partners in our cluster. The customer sees one supplier, one delivery, one invoice.
From single prototype assemblies to full-container-load production. Below 5 pieces the setup cost dominates; from 50 pieces up the part cost is stable; above 5,000 we tool up to bring it down further. Most export work sits in the 100–2,000 piece-per-batch range.
Material certs at input, dimensional check at fabrication, weld inspection (visual, MPI, UT per drawing), galvanizing or paint thickness, functional test where applicable, final FAI on first batch. Reports travel with the consignment in PDF and physical form.
Yes — DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES, native SolidWorks/Inventor/CATIA files are routine inputs. We convert, verify against the PDF drawing, and start the manufacturing process from a controlled CAD baseline. Drawing revisions are tracked.
Manufacturing & Surface Treatment
All products are manufactured at Vajra's Howrah facility under ISO 9001:2015 quality management. In-house roll-forming, welding, galvanizing and testing — without sub-contractor dependency — ensures consistent dimensional accuracy and surface quality across export orders.
Precision Roll-Forming
CNC roll-forming lines capable of ±0.1 mm dimensional tolerance on MS, GI, SS, and aluminium sections.
Hot-Dip Galvanizing
In-house HDG plant conforming to ASTM A123 / IS 2629. Average coating: 85–140 µm. Pre-treatment: alkaline degreasing → pickling → fluxing.
Welding & Fabrication
MIG, TIG, SAW welding. Coded welders under ASME IX / IS 2825 qualification. Weld inspection by UT / DPT available.
Surface Treatment
Hot-dip galvanizing · Pre-galvanized GI · Powder coating (Tribo gun, 60–80 µm DFT) · Mill finish · Chromate passivation.
